Re: How to stop Pop-Up ads?

Does anyone out there know of any software or a program that works well? Seems like my computer has a pop-up virus or something I get remains of ads even when my cable-internet isnt hooked up and I'm watching dvds on my comp. Its freakin crazy.

The google bar works pretty well. I also have adsgone. You can get a trial version of adsgone by doing a search on the web. cnet has one I believe. download.com.com <--not a typo.

Re: How to stop Pop-Up ads?

Oh, check for ad-aware also, if you have any adware on your computer it'll find it and kill it.

If you have the standard version of of Kazaa, go into add/remove programs in your control panel and look for a program called 'SaveNow' or something of the sort. Delete that program and stab it, burn it, crush it to death. (I hate advertisement crap) <---especially when you're tricked into installing it.

Re: How to stop Pop-Up ads?

I have some sort of adzapper crap that doesnt really work. I think the root of the problem is the Kazaa program. Thx for the replies.

Ad-aware works good. Go to download.com and get it for free. You'll be surprised how much crap is on your computer.

Do yourself a favor and dump kazaa, do another search for 'kazaalite'. It's an ad free version of kazaa that has a few better features than kazaa. It's the same program, just a hacked version.

Also, if you choose not to uninstall kazaa, make sure when it's not running when you're not using it. Maybe going overboard in detail, but I don't know how much you know about it.
Check your system tray for the kazaa icon, if it's there, right click it and choose 'exit?' 'quit?' whichever it is, I forget. That could be the source of your popups as kazaa installs an ad cache in your system32 folder so it can pop the crap whenever it wants, whether you're connected or not.

Hope that helps.

I got Ad-Aware/Ad-Watch and also PopupKiller.
Got both from Kazaa...they work great!

Bikes and women - both have nice curves.

Re: How to stop Pop-Up ads?

or run mozilla firebird instead of internet explorer. it stops popups if you want it to, is way faster than ie, and is non-microsoft to boot
