Re: Stanley Cup Playoffs 2006 (spoilers)

Just got home from the Flames game. Jessica and I were sitting in Tony Amonte's seats with all the wives. What a game, McCarty scores the game winner in overtime, and Amonte gets a goal too.

Flames win 2-1.

There might have been maybe 6 people in the dome that weren't wearing a red Flames jersey. What an incredible rush. I'm hoarse from screaming.

Oh and Ottawa beat Tampa 4-1. Ottawa and Calgary cup final bitches.

And then there's this asshole...

Re: Stanley Cup Playoffs 2006 (spoilers)

Nice seats! I gotta say I liked the Flames fan passion from the outside until this year. I travel to Calgary for work and I was there Feb 1st , I went out with a guy from work at about 4 PM for some beers, he went home a couple of hours later, being a single guy in a cool town I decided to stay out. I went to Ceili's Irish Pub, some guy in the bar said he was an out of town customer for an oil company and they gave him a couple of tickets to the game (face value was 175) and asked me to go. The game was awesome, the seats were a few rows from the ice with wait service. It went into a shootout but still the crowd was sitting on their hands. I'm not even a fan but I was yelling at the crowd to get into the game (I was on my feet waving my hands, yelling at the fans to F'in cheer ), I had an attendant ask me kindly to keep the noise down.

I was disappointed, I grew up in Boston and I was mild compared to my cheering at the Sox or Bruins. I guess different cities have an idea what cheering is...

Ya it doesn't always get real rowdy but playoffs are completely out of control. I've been to 3 games in the past 4 weeks and they were all louder than hell.

Oh and don't forget the after-partying... 20000 drunken fans marching out of the saddledome to 17th avenue to join another 40000... I'll see if I can find some pics of the red mile.

And then there's this asshole...

Hey Abtech are you gonna feel foolish when McCarty scores the cup winning goal for Calgary?

Dream on...the bill collectors will grab his broke ass first!

Wings rocked, although I fell asleep at the start of the 2OT...

Whatever . . . McCarty isn't a big goal scorer, not to say he isn't a major asset for any team. He still can get a free meal and drink anywhere in Detroit, but not for being a big points maker.

I doubt I would feel foolish since the Flames won't make it to the finals . . .

well you really can't compare us Boston fans to anyone else. Well maybe NY but they have an attitude with it, we support our teams even if they suck.

NJ kicked the crap outta NY today, I think it was like 6-1.

if you can't convince them, confuse them.

There should be only one team that you're rooting for. They even have a symbol that's close to your heart. Turn in your Honda and go home.

Never accused him of being a big points maker, but he did score a big goal last night. His experience and toughness are something we can use.

After you (The Detroit Red Wings) sweep Edmonton you better hope you're not facing Calgary next. You'll go down in 6 just like last time.

And then there's this asshole...

Alrighty then. I didn't know "I" was playing in this series, but I seriously doubt Calgary can sweep the Red Wings anytime soon.
