More Mac vulnerabilities...

http://www.networkworld.com/servlet/....class?shown=1

a snippet:
Quote:
Long considered to be more secure than Microsoft's Windows operating system, Mac OS X has increasingly been the focus of security researchers like Ferris. In February a number of malicious programs, including one called OSX/Leap, were released targeting the Macintosh.

The SANS Institute's Internet Storm Center rated Ferris's bugs as "highly critical," and warned that there are no patches or workarounds available for the majority of these vulnerabilities.
I mention this for two reasons:
1. To remind the Mac faithful to look for new patches more often than they're used to, now that people have finally started paying attention to OS X (looking for vulnerabilities, writing exploit code, etc.)
2. To continue to dispel the myth that OS X is "more secure" than its Microsoft counterpart.

Heck, even Apple has lately been bending over backwards to make its hardware work with Windows.

(And STILL I've got an Intel-based PowerMac equivalent on my list of things to buy in early '07...)

Re: More Mac vulnerabilities...

I would dispute claim number 2.

But in the end, every computer system that is not in a locked room disconnected from any remote access is a vulnerable system.

Wow - Thanks Taz. The first place I always check for Macintosh problems in on a motorcycle forum with a bunch of Windows users.
