Short term dialup access

Heading out for a week vacation (Deal's Gap area), and I need to figure out what to do about access. I have cable at home, and they don't offer dialup access as a backup or for vacations, etc. I'm only going to be on to upload pics, check mail, etc, so I won't be using much time. Suggestions?

Last year, before we moved, I was still with Verizon/DSL. They still offered dialup, so I got it for a couple weeks. We stay in Townsend, and it's a local call to the Knoxville area, so the availability of a local number shouldn't be an issue.

Re: Short term dialup access

Earthlink has $9.95/month for 6 months. That should get you through the riding season...

We rent a house, and it has a phone line but no dedicated access. Looks like both earthlink and 550 have access numbers in Maryville and Knoxville.

Re: Short term dialup access

The best dial-up I ever used was Toast. I don't know if they have a local access number there, but if they do I'd recommend them. Definitely much better than Earthlink.

Re: Short term dialup access

Most McDonald's have wireless high speed for a couple bucks an hour. The salads aren't bad...

You might spend the whole 6 months sending photos on dialup.
