Re: American Chopper Marathon

For those of us looking for some lazy Labor Day leisure time (especially since it's raining here), Discovery is running an American Chopper marathon all day long...

'Damn it Paulie...you need to finish it now'

Re: American Chopper Marathon

It's addicting. I've had it on the tv for several hours now....kinda reminds me of a soap opera with a 'flair', though.

Same here...I swear the old man is going to seize up one of these times. Oh, and what is up with the old mans SUV (Explorer?)--Ziptie that front plastic spoiler up already. All of those sweet bikes they make and his front end is falling off.
Anybody know what he did before he started to make the custom bikes? I thought I heard he say something about another business before this one. Three years ago??

Re: American Chopper Marathon

I thought he was in prison for a few years?

Great show though! I wonder how their bikes compare to some of the other custom shops out there?

If he was in prison I bet that anger problem had something to do with it. I've not seen much of the Jessie James guy but I believe he makes more of the bike himself such as the tanks and rims..etc.. and not part out as much work.

Re: American Chopper Marathon

I think the old man started a steel fab shop originally...than he discovered the big bucks in custom bikes. If it weren't for his son Paulie designing and building $150K choppers, he'd back to bending tin. From the looks of the latest shows, they must be making some big coinage to afford the new shop, tractor trailer rig, motorhome, and other toys...

YES!!! I just got done watching the bike build offs after the American Chopper Marathon... and [email protected] those are some sweet bikes. Lane's bikes are cool, but I thought Paul Jaffe should have won the build off with Indian Larry. Jaffe's bikes are sick!!!

Errr, its Yaffie, but ya, his bike kicked the hell out of larrys. As did Bourgets in the first one. Damn redneck hillbilly east coasters, welcome to the year 2003. Goldflake died in the 70's, lets keep it that way. Now, the next time Bourgets boats are at the shop for work, I need to talk him out of one of those sick aluminum frames

No doubt. Indian Larry's was cool, but not something I'd add to the stable....ever! That red chopper was just amazing from Yaffie(sp?)

Re: American Chopper Marathon

Has anyone ever seen a custom chopper with maybe sportbike features? I think the tail section and tank would be easy to fab, and maybe some type of side 'baffles' or covers to replicate plastics.

Anybody else have any ideas for a 'Sport Chopper'?

I love both kinds of bikes, just wondering what something like this would look like?

Maybe Paulies next bike, no?

Re: American Chopper Marathon

I love those shows about fabrication; that is so amazing how they can take a flat piece of aluminum and make a tank or whatever.
I kinda figured Indian Larry's bike would win the build-off since they were more or less on his home turf, and 'PsychoBilly' Lane won the last two with his old school styling. But really, it wasn't very fair to compare two bikes that were more or less opposite of each other.

Re: American Chopper Marathon

I agree that Yaffie's bike should have won. I think people voted out the 'nostalgia' factor. Could you imagine riding a bike w/ 120 hp and NO FRONT BRAKE!!?!?!?!!!
