Where to go in Mexico?

FOr anyone who's been there:

We're planning a 1-week trip for July. Where are the best places to go and why?

Cuba is also being considered.

And then there's this asshole...

Cozumel looked pretty cool and relaxing the day we were there.

Re: Where to go in Mexico?

Relax = IXTAPA!!! Nothing else to do but relax, It's on the Pacific side, the water is real nice for scuba diving and the wind is much calmer than the Golf side.

Acapulco is out of question!!!!! That place sucks big time.

Puerto Vallarta is nice, bigger than Ixtapa, smaller than Acapulco, much cleaner and "American", you'll find Mc-Donalds and Wal-Mart over there.

Veracruz is a nice place, it's on the Golf side, but I would not recommend it for a one week vacation.

I'd really consider Ixtapa if I where you. If you end-up going there and want more info just let me know

Re: Where to go in Mexico?

From where you are, consider Hawaii too, unless it has to be Mexico for some reason.

Re: Where to go in Mexico?

And why July? That's the couple weeks out of the year you actually may have a warm day or two up there in Canuck land.

I know... that kills me but it's pretty hard for either of us to find time in the winter. I'm a lot busier with work and Jess has school.

Mexico and Cuba are at the top of the list mainly due to cost... Correct me if I'm wrong but I think a buck goes further compared to Hawaii. I will check it out though.

Definitely planning on doing an all-inclusive deal.

Thanks. We'll look into that and if we go that way we'll have plenty of time to chat about it in June.

Re: Where to go in Mexico?

I don't know anything about travel to Cuba. But probably.

Mexico it depends, I'm told the resort areas are priced fairly close to the same price of the stuff as it would cost you in USD.

Don't know how it works with the Loonie to the Peso either.

I haven't been to Mexico much, but we've been going to different islands in Hawaii the last few years, and I absolutely love that place.

Re: Where to go in Mexico?

Went to Cancun a couple years ago and it was fun. We stayed west of the northeast point which is further away from most of the party spots. It was quiet but still just a short bus ride away from shopping and such. The hotel we stayed at was the Riu Caribe. Very nice with a huge pool.
We are going to Puerto Vallarta in October. Supposed to be more laid back and adult oriented.....our hotel anyways.
Ive heard that the Riviera Maya south of Cancun is more relaxed than Cancun. Some of the online sites are saying that Cancun was hit hard by the hurricanes whereas Riviera was not.

Re: Where to go in Mexico?

The Dominican Republic is great for just relaxing. We had a great time 3-4 years ago.
