Some eBay advice please?

I'm shopping exhaust (big surprise, I know) and have already settled on a Dobeck Performance TFi to handle the fueling side of things. I found a number on eBay and did a Buy it Now! for one at a good price with what I thought was a solid vendor. That was three days ago.

I'm a little pissed that I haven't heard a peep from the guy since winning the auction, this despite my having immediately PayPal'd his money and following up with two e-mail messages asking what's up. I called the company last night and left a vm. I have heard zip back.

Any advice?

Edit: In checking eBay's FAQ, it looks like I have to wait 7 days before beginning the "paid for but not received" protocol against the guy...and it looks like eBay may actually cover me up to $200 on an item paid for but not received??? Anyone had this happen to them???

Re: Some eBay advice please?

They have 100% feedback. Some people are just bad about giving status updates... I'd wait the 7 days and see what happens.

Re: Some eBay advice please?

It is frustrating. Did the seller have a lot of positive feedback (and no negative)?

Something similar happened to me on an item I bought last year. I initiated an inquiry through PayPal, and that got an immediate response from the guy! They must have harassed him pretty good, because he was all irritated that I had done it. I said too bad, you should have responded to my e-mails. He said he had been sick and it delayed him sending out the item for a few days. I ultimately received it, and dropped the PayPal inquiry.

Re: Some eBay advice please?

Yeah, I have found is that there is a cultural gap sometimes too. A seller might not know what kind of communications he or she should have with their buyers. I would just wait a little bit longer.

Though I have had people who have shipped things way later than they should have and lost my item until I got on them about it. But those peoples' feedback forums reflected that perforance historically.

If the seller you are dealing with has [email protected]% feedback, I would give a little more benefit of the doubt.

Re: Some eBay advice please?

I've had that happen with buy it now. Sometimes the vendor is out of town for a couple days or something and don't get to it right away. Just did that about a month ago. Nothing for about 4 days then get an email indicating it has been shipped.

That's why I figured the guy was a sure thing.

You're probably right though, not everyone is on the ball regarding how quickly they respond, leave feedback, etc.

It just irks me because in having done some selling on eBay myself, I take pride in quick communication with my buyer.

Re: Some eBay advice please?

Chain, I wouldn't worry about it now with a seller with that much positive feedback. I have had several sellers not reply to any messages, but the item still arrives. If you paid through PayPal and the item hasn't shown up in 7 days, you can contact them and they will reverse the charges after investigating. But, I still wouldn't worry for at least 7 days.
