Ok, don't mind me

Don't mind me if I rant, bitch, complain, make stupid drunk postings or just act like somewhat of an asshole in general on the board for a week or two.

I am gearing up to drop the seperation/divorce bomb on the wife in the next week once I have my **** in order and my mood is going to be somewhat tense for a bit....

God I hope I can pull this off and not end up losing my bike in the process. Things are about to get ugly I think.

I need a beer.

Commiserations, Getsome . Hope you can get through this and remain sane. Take sensible precautions (legal advice etc.) but try to keep respect for your wife too. Lean on your friends, you need support.

The bike is just stuff. Get things in order and if need be you can get another.
Good luck

Re: Ok, don't mind me

The bike is a minor issue. It may not seem like it at times, but it's just a material thing.

I will say that if you are expecting a lot of hardship through this, then you need to continue placing things in order before you two officially break things apart.

I wish you the best through your present situation. It's always sad to hear about a marriage breaking apart.

Re: Ok, don't mind me

Hell the bike is the only material thing I am trying to keep. She can have the house, all the **** in it, the truck whatever. I just need to get out of this with my car which is paid for and still be able to afford the bike.

My biggest concerns are making sure I still get to see my son and not having to live on ramen noodles till I get bills paid off.

Good thing is I got a friend who could use a room mate anyway so the place to stay is covered already.

I should have made this decision a long time ago.. We have grown into such different people and me playing the happy husband for years now to avoid losing my son has turned me into a miserable person when I am around my wife for too long.

I will be much happier once I got my ducks in a row and I am moved out. I am actually looking forward to being single again...

Re: Ok, don't mind me

Sorry to hear about this, but I hope you get straightened out.
I also hope it doesn't get too ugly. You need to be happy, but need to remember your boy as well. But I'm sure you're already taking all that into consideration.

Will that even work or is there a lookback period?

Is a paradigm worth 20 cents?

Stay away from the alcohol. If you're worried about drunk posting here, then you'd probably drunk dial too.

Plus, whatever crap you post, email, write or otherwise divulge can be found and used against you. Think back to the Crown Vic story and you'll see how easy it is to track down everything you've ever done online. A good lawyer will do and find everything to make his client come out on top.

Word of caution, be careful about selling your stuff to your friends. It can be seen in legal circles as trying to hide assets (especially if you don't sell the stuff for fair market value, ie, selling your bike to a friend for $100). In some states, they can go after you for a percentage of what your stuff would have sold for.

Your best bet is to try to make it an amicable split if possible. If not, make sure you hire a shark. Someone who will drive 1000 miles just to take a lollipop from a baby.

If you don't think it will be an amicable split, make sure you discuss your situation with every good lawyer within a 100 mile radius to find the best one. Once a lawyer has spoken with you about the case (even the free consultation) they can't take your wife's case as it would be a conflict of interest.

Don't ask how I know this stuff, just know that I know it.
