Re: Darwin Award Attempt

I see, lets put a bowl of paint thinner out with water. I guess everyone does not know about the different types of fires. For those that do not, never put a Class B or C fire with Water. With a Class B the water only speads the fire.

Class A Fire

paper, textiles, and other ordinary combustibles Class A or ABC Extinguisher
Uses water, water-based chemical, foam, or multi-purpose dry chemical. A strictly Class A extinguisher contains only water.

Class B Fire

liquids, oils, solvents, paint, grease, etc.Class ABC or BC Extinguisher
Uses foam, dry chemical, or carbon dioxide, to put out the fire by smothering it or cutting off the oxygen.

Class C Fire

Electrical: Live or energized electric wires or equipment.Class ABC or BC Extinguisher
Uses foam, dry chemical, or carbon dioxide to put out the fire by smothering it or cutting off the oxygen.

Re: Darwin Award Attempt

It only happened once, but I watched one of my father's employees grind metal while in the shop. He was right next to an open container of Paint Thinner. Did the can catch fire? Yes it did, and I laughed till I hurt at that idiot trying to put out the flames. (I'm not sure that he realized that the fire was safe on the concrete. There was nothing else flammable around.)

Now everything paint related stays sealed in the paint booth or mixing room.

Re: Darwin Award Attempt

Well, with his history, he may have been trying to put out the thinner fire with more thinner! "But I thought it was water!"
