Medical Advice

Ok, so most of you know I had a little mishap at Barber this weekend. I am sore all over, which is to be expected from a weekend of intense riding, much less a get-off. Was in the bathroom earlier and noticed this beauty on my left side about 4 inches above my hip. Should I be concerned with this? I don't bruise easily, and I honestly don't remember it being there this morning, but I wasn't exactly looking either. And no comments on the stretch marks!

Doesn't look to bad. Keep and eye on it but other than that

Also why so many raspberries and rub burns??? I thought your leathers fit fairly well and would not have expected them

No clue on the midsection tenderness. I'm tender all around the waist. The front and rear panels of the legs are attached via elastic panels on the inner side. I think when I went rolling, they twisted on my leg exposing my knee to the pavement thru the elastic as there's a hole in the elastic the size of the road rash on my knee. The impact also wore a hole through my glove where my pinky is pinched. I also found a fairly serious scuff on my Arai so it looks like I'm getting that new CE yellow #5 helmet after all! That would also explain the bruise on my head...

Re: Medical Advice

I am no medical professional...but is your pee orange? If it is, that could be a sign of internal injury (blood in your pee) did you, or do you have a stomachache? (I took a handlebar in the kidney and peed blood along with a ferocious "stomachache".)

If you weren't checked out...it might not be a bad idea.

Re: Medical Advice

I've seen worse. just try to keep your shirt from rubbing on it to avoid any discomfort. Putting a bandage over it with neosporin on it will help quicken the healing time and help with the shirt issue.

CEII yellow helmet, where's the pic? (you shoulda posted one with it so we all don't have to go looking for one, you know we're lazy)

if you can't convince them, confuse them.

No clue on the pee... I'll drink lots of water and pay attention next time.

Re: Medical Advice

If you haven't really noticed it, I'm guessing you won't see anything.

Is it a scab...or a deep ache?

That's totally a bruise. So surface seepage at all. It aches pretty good. The thing that bothers me is I don't remember seeing it this morning. After I posted, I went back to the bathroom and took my shirt off. I don't see how I could have missed it. I just have this feeling that for a bruise that big to show up that quickly several days after impact can't be good... Then again, maybe I'm being paranoid...

Re: Medical Advice

I had the same bruise when I had a getoff at Grattan, My elbow dug into my side when I flopped around like a ragdoll. Couple of nasty scrapes on the outside of the leathers. My ego was more bruised than my body. Just keep an eye on it it seems too late to do the hot cold thing. Neosporin on the surface abrasion and keep an eye on the wound site. Call rigt away if any internal pain occurs and seeing your doc wont hurt.

Re: Medical Advice

Uh, dude. First pic I looked at I was like "Oh that can't be good" especially if you didn't see it this morning. To me that says that it came on during the day today. *That* says to me that there is some bleeding in there. My advice, go get it checked out. It can't hurt your wallet that badly.

Go get looked over.

Re: Medical Advice

I've had bruises show up a few days later also but nothing that bad.

getting it checked out certaily wouldn't hurt. plus you can have the doc check out anything else you might have bumped in your fall.

if you can't convince them, confuse them.

Re: Medical Advice

I've had worse in the same location for dirt bike get-off while wearing a fanny pack of tools and water bottles. Like LTL said, as long as your not peeing blood, your fine. Those deep bruises take a day or two to really show up, and longer to heal. They start out purple and blue, but fade to yellowish/brown in a week or two. The area will be really tender, but you would really be in alot more pain if you hurt the soft ribs at the bottom of your ribcage. I wouldnt worry about it. I'm also not a doctor.

Re: Medical Advice

Bruises can take time to settle out and show, but if you're concerned enough to post it here then why mess with it? A trip to the doc costs a lot less than an emergency room visit if something is really wrong.

If needed, I might be willing to trade a slightly abused kidney for a slightly abused yellow RC-51 track bike.

Re: Medical Advice

I had a bruise once from mtn. biking that was about 10" in diameter that covered from my side about kidney level all the way down to my thigh and across the front and back. It went away over time and was no big deal - other than the soreness.
First helmet I ever totally destroyed.
