2004 Mazdaspeed MX5

What can you import geeks tell me about this car? My dad just picked one up for commuting/weekend fun car. Havent seen it yet, curious what the word on the street is about them. I'm guessing Mazdas version of the S2000?

It's a slightly hotted up Miata (the other name for the MX-5).

Re: 2004 Mazdaspeed MX5

I own a 93 miata. I felt the 05 mazdaspeed I test drove was a nice refinement. My least favorite thing about the car was that just as it seemed to be coming into the fun zone it bounced off the rev limiter. With some of the turbo upgrades available it would probably be super fun.

Turbo Miata with some suspension improvements. I wouldn't put it quite in the same category as the S2000, but I bet they're a fun little ride.

And then there's this asshole...

Re: 2004 Mazdaspeed MX5

I'm ankle deep in a miata project now. Building a 1.8 to swap into my older lighter chassis. I sprung for all the nice internals with lower compression pistons with plans for a roots blower in the future. So far the coilovers have been the best investment i've ever made to the car. Apologies for this post having nothing to do with origional thread.

Re: 2004 Mazdaspeed MX5

as a side note, the s2000 bought the roof plans from mazda because the miata roof worked so well. The soft tops and hard tops should be interchangable if the s2000 has the frankenstein bolts
