I'm 14 buy me a drink!

I went to the supermarket late tonight, I realized I was out of coffee and I would have to kill someone in the morning without it.

So anyway I pulled up and was getting out of my car at the local supermarket that has a liquor store attached to it. I see a group of young teenagers about 14-15 standing on the curb between the stores hanging out drinking from bottles. As I get out of my car one of the kids calls to a friend to come over, he runs to them and the conversation goes like this:

Kid1: Hey we scored a 12 pack, want one?
Kid2: Yeah man, how did you get it?
Kid1: That old dude in the BMW that came in, I asked him to buy and he got us a 12 pack of Bud and we have 2 left.
Kid2: Give me one!

I'm not a prude, I went to more then my share of keggers in high school but what kind of ****tard buys a random 14 year old kid a 12-pack outside a liquor store these days? Forget about the wrongness of it why would you chance this kind of thing, freakin idiot if you ask me?

I wish I was there a bit earlier to see the transaction this "old dude" would have gotten an ass kicking from this nearly old dude.

Re: I'm 14 buy me a drink!

I say the parents bear most of the blame, and I also say that the atmosphere also takes some blame for this sort of behaviour (amongst other factors ie age). Plus Boulder is a college towne, so it is easy to see how this may influence younger kids. 14 is also just about the age where many "adult" things are real popular; 2 years from a driving permit, 2 years from beign able to earn money, and well frankly are constantly bombarded by "older kid" stuff, such as drinking from the university. Rider, if you ever get the chance, (uh oh I'm going to use a noun as a verb ) google liquor store in google maps, see the number of liquor stores in a 5 mile radius of the university or open up the Colorado Daily to see these sort of ads. I have observed this behaviour from teenage boys in my job as a teacher assistant (I'm a college student myself). They are most likely to think everything I say or teach is "stupid" and would much rather not partake in such events. It either needs to involve liquid nitrogen, exploding film canisters, or other riske things to really get their attention; even then its only a short period of time before they lose interest.

This is also quite funny because Boulder has one of the highest concentration of well educated (master, or PH.D) peoples in the nation. You'd think their kids would be well monitored and taught appropriate mannerism; but I guess even intelligent people have the ability to somehow devoid themselves of innate abilities such as parenting and apparently smart people doesn't equate to good parenting. Any I've gone too far tangent.

When I said late this was 10 PM? I wasn't home at that age I had my day out on the last day of school you have to let your kids have some freedom in my opinion but you shouldn't have to worry about some idiot serving them.

Re: I'm 14 buy me a drink!

No one bears the blame these days. Alot of parents being enablers and too busy thier kids friends instead of the people that are suppose to teach them about right and wrong, responsibility and accountability so they can go on the be productive members of society.

Now, did ya call the cops and turn them in for drinking under age?

I blame the kid who gave the other kid a beer. how you gonna get drunk if you give them all away. freakin rookies

in high school we never sat out in front of the liquer store, that was an invitation for the cops to come and tell us to leave. we used to get the guy (only a few years older than us) that lived across the street from one of us to go buy.

but I've had kids ask me, I laugh at them and say no way.

if you can't convince them, confuse them.

Re: I'm 14 buy me a drink!

I used to have a High School teacher and personal friend buy for me. Now isn't that a coincidence? Now that I think about it I had my choice of two different Teachers.

I'm glad they never got caught. The consequences could have been terrible.

The past is in the past. I'll admit, I used to drink like a fish before I became a Christian. As a teenager I used EverClear and Jim Clear as a substitute for water. I was literally an alcoholic by the age of 17. I still remember going to school drunk somtimes.

WWJD? He would say to go and sin no more. You can't undo what you have done.

Oh, and Pastor does not mean boring by any means. However, I don't drink or smoke anymore. I can find much more interesting things to do with my time.

Re: I'm 14 buy me a drink!

Forgive my ignorance but as I understand you cant drink or go to a bar until you are 21 in the USA? Is this uniform across the USA or do some states differ??

The legal age for drinking in Australia is 18, just wondering what you guys think about this?

Re: I'm 14 buy me a drink!

It used to be different in different states across the U.S., I'm not sure on current laws (Like Texas).

I can't believe these kids, playing "Hey Mister" at 10pm to score a 12-pack. That's so wrong....

...I bought my own beer at age 14.

We didn't need others to buy for us...we had fake ID's.

LOL.

I still think the 21 and over law is pretty lame. Sure you can get your ass shot off in Iraq and be held accountable as an adult, but you better not have a beer.

****en moral majority my ass.

Oh and kids will be kids. The guy was an ass for buying for them.

Aliens general, everything about them is alien!

I'm quite certain the drinking age law is uniform across all states.

I think the age limit should be what the rest of the world, mostly, uses (but I also think the US should go metric, so what do I know?).
