Re: Wanna go REALLY fast with a Honda?

I think the NEW news is that Honda is actually admitting that they are jumping into the business. Before is was all just a "test environment" for them and GE, with "no plans" to actually enter the VLJ market. But that was added to that other thread recently as well.

Re: Wanna go REALLY fast with a Honda?

VLJ's are usually expected to be in the 3 mil range, to compete with nice Turboprops like an EADS TBM or Pilatus.

But, like with all other aircraft, it's not the purchase that will kill you, it's the maintenance and fuel. Plus, most jets do not get certified for Single Pilot Operation right out of the gate, meaning you will need a co-pilot with you all the time.

Re: Wanna go REALLY fast with a Honda?

On a side note, this one just crashed a couple days ago and killed both test pilots: Spectrum Aeronautical
They moved production and testing here a while back, and they were going through FAA certifications. The plane had made ~40 flights, then had an issue on takeoff, dragged the right wing and cartwheeled.
We did have a quick thunderstorm come through that day with very strong microburst winds, so that's probably what caught them out.
It was the very plane pictured, and most of those photos are only a few months old of it flying over the local mountains.
