I just got a new towing rig!

Well, after many test drives of different SUVs I ended up with a 1998 Durango 4x4. Since we're moving to a hilly, snowy area we knew we'd be needing 4WD and I wanted something with more guts than my van for towing.

I found this truck at a local dealer for $6500. It has 94000 miles on it and is pretty loaded. It also has the towing package as well as an off road package. So I took it out for a spin and was immediately impressed with its power. It has the 230hp 300tq 5.2L gas hog motor in it. It's easily the fastest vehicle I test drove as well as the cheapest! I haggled the dealer down to $6000 even and here it is, I got it dirty already fording a stream (flooded road) hereabouts.

And no, it's not brown, it's dark chestnut pearl

Anyway, it's first real job will be to pull two bikes and hundreds of pounds of tools, paint and crap to our new house in PA.

Nice truck! Maybe if we play our cards right, we might get the motocross track at Grattan open for 4-wheelers when we are there next year...what do you think???

I've always liked those. But I hear that you have to drive from gas station to gas station....

Re: I just got a new towing rig!

It's replacing a 3/4 ton Dodge conversion van which at best gets 12.5 on the highway. This gets ~ 18 on the highway. So it's an improvement...
