Anyone own a 06 & up Rav 4 with the V6?

Looking for opinions on the 06 and up Rav 4 with the V6. From what I have read it sounds like a very solid vehicle, I also like the fact it’s rated at 3000lbs towing capacity. Are there any other vehicles in the same class/price range I should be looking at? I’ve always owned Honda’s and Toyota’s so I am kind of bias towards the two brands. The Highlander and X-Trail look interesting though…….

The vehicle will be used mostly for it's size/space and the odd towing of trailer with 1 to 3 bikes.

Look, lean, believe!!

No I haven't, but a close friend was looking at them for awhile...ended up with a nearly loaded ridgeline with more towing capacity, the same mpg, and more overall room for about 2k$ less then the loaded out rav.

But if your fitting it into the city , or paralell/garage parking etc, I can definetely understand the rav.

why put off today what you can wake up late and forget to do tomorrow.

V6 RAV is grossly overpowered and ridiculously fun to drive. Yes they can be optioned up to almost infinity but you can also get the V6 in Base or Sport trim without hurting the wallet much.

And then there's this asshole...

I was waiting for you to chime in!

Looking at the sport model, I really don't need all the bells and whistles. So you've driven this vehicle I take it? What was your overall feel for the vehicle? Anything else compare to it in the same price range?

SSG- The RAV 4 just suits my needs better then a Ridgeline would, plus I think my friends going to be picking one up.

Re: Anyone own a 06 & up Rav 4 with the V6?

The Sport is nice... probably the best value. You get the 18 inch rims, colour-keyed exterior trim, tint, foglights and better seats. They drive really nice; solid, pretty agile and lotsa power. For another $1800 there is a package that gives you heated leather seats too.

In this category if you want a V6 you're up against Jeep (Liberty) Ford (Escape) and Hyundai (Tucson) For a little more money you can go to an Xterra, which is much more truck-like (which is fine if that's what you're looking for) and doesn't have nearly the features for the money. There's also the Chev Equinox / Pontiac Torrent which are basically re-skinned Venture vans with the old pushrod 12-valve GM V6. Honda are insisting that they won't be putting a V6 in the CR-V so until they do I'd say the V6 RAV is easily best-in-class.

And then there's this asshole...

Have you not been reading the posts? This has to be a most "inconvenient" vehicle.

I do know someone with an older RAV and they have had ZERO problems with it.

Re: Anyone own a 06 & up Rav 4 with the V6?

np on the Ridgeline, not everyone needs that mix of vehicle

My cousin has a 98 rav4 and he doesen't know what maintenance is, no really...we're talking like no oil changes, maybe once a year if he remembers, loads it up with band equipment every weekend, i was suprised it made year one. Now it's on year 5 and about 200k.

why put off today what you can wake up late and forget to do tomorrow.
