Another Enzo Down well in half

I wonder if these have a design flaw. This is the second one i know of that has split in two. Or he was going really fast like an asshat.

With the engine as a stressed chassis member it must just shear off there.

And then there's this asshole...

Re: Another Enzo Down well in half

I would say that it's more of a design feature, than a flaw.

Exactly. Let the forces bleed off by breaking the car instead of the occupants.
It is drawn so much off the F1 car it has to incorporate those features.

Re: Another Enzo Down well in half

it is a design feature taken from the f1 cars and top fuel dragsters. In those cars that run race fuel crashes can often lead to a fire. the idea is to seperate the driver from the engine area that sometime catches fire thus eliminating serious burns because they can not escape through the crumpled doors

For top fuel maybe, but for F1 and indy cars the idea is to dissipate energy as BDA and N4SPD noted. The Enzo is basically a 2 seater F1 car, designed with the same features ... and I'm not positive, but I think the fuel cell is located in the tunnel between the seats ... or is that just the FordGT?
