Why people think Americans are stupid

Why people think Americans are stupid

"whatever he thinks is right, he's from Texas, he's gotta be right"

Edit: if they filmed long enough anywhere in the world, with careful editing, they could achieve the same appearence of stupidity. Maybe.

If you interview enough people on the street in any country you're gonna find a whole lotta morons. If the average American is really that ignorant then the country is in trouble.

I'm sure this guy has plenty of footage of people who answered correctly, or who said bullshit when he introduced himself as the Prime Minister of Australia. Of course that wouldn't be as funny. Notice how it keeps going back to the same people with dumb answers? Home in on one dumb asshole and ask him lots of questions to provide lots of material.

Rick Mercer made a name for himself making fun of our neighbours back when the Liberals were in charge and it was de-rigeur to mock Americans. Some of the **** was pretty funny, but again, you could get the same result anywhere with the same strategy. YouTube - Rick Mercer - Talking To Americans

And then there's this asshole...

Hey, 'phobe. Been a while.

I would only ask: By average you probably mean the mean...I would argue, that those folks are examples of the mode...And I do believe that we are in trouble...Look who we elect, how we spend our money, what advertising dollars get spent on, etc.

Re: Why people think Americans are stupid

Phobe is right to a degree. You could end up with a similar film taken anywhere if you picked the right interviewee and carried out sufficient editing. A scary thing is, these people are allowed to vote.

However, I must say that on the few and brief occasions I've visited the US, the lack of international news in the press and on TV was pretty startling.

Sort of along these lines:

Quote:
"WW3 has broken out in Europe. Germany, France and Poland in ruins. No Americans harmed. And next we visit Florida for the build up to the biggest even in the world, the Superbowl. Stay with us, we'll be right back ............. "
I jest. Sort of.

I finally watched this. Totally hilarious yet sad. Sad fact is that the total ****ing morons they interviewed have the right to vote.

You mean, if WW3 hasn't reduced the UK to a smouldering heap?

Well for a start, most of the world's population would be watching the World Cup, audiences in the billions, unlike the small minority sport that is "American Football" and its Superbore.

You do realise don't you, apart from Americans, that nobody, and I mean nobody, is interested in "Gridiron". Nobody watches it. Ever.
Even cricket, much derided by many here and abroad (especially after the Aussies just kicked our arses again recently) is a true global game compared with your football (and baseball for that matter)

Why would that happen. The U.K. would have to be more than simply insignificant for it to actually be targeted. You have no worries there.

So since you and your's would be concidering this to be a world event, mention of WW3 wouldn't even be in your broadcasts. Very interesting.

You do realise don't you, apart from the NFL organizers themselves, nobody in America, and I mean nobody, is interested in spreading the NFL to parts other than the good ol' USA!

Re: Why people think Americans are stupid

I saw something on "the ocho" the other day...It was Australian rules football. Kinda like US football. Also, where I lived in Germany some years ago there was a local "American-Football" team made up of Germans, Aussies, Brits, and ex-pat Americans.

Also, since sports is, in general, an infernal waste of time, intellect, and resources, I don't really understand the significance of a competition about marginally competitive sports that have no real human relevance...Why don't the crowds turn out in such force for Nobel prizes? Or, for scientific discovery? Or Environmental summits? Or for Round table discussions about international law and ethics? You know, the really significant stuff? Why do idiots all over the world, most of whom cannot perform well or never tried to compete in sports, care so much about who can kick, throw, or hit a ball? Those are the stupid folks to be pitied...
