Waiving your right to sue

I wanted to know if it is possible in the US to "waive your right to sue" simply by signing a document. I undertand in NZ the legal system supports this but in Australia and the US from what I have been able to find out no matter what the piece of paper says it's never 100% binding. I think if there was such a document it would make life a lot easier when you wanted to make use of another persons property for riding or similar activities. Public liability insurance is off the charts here and I can only imagine its worse in the US.
