Re: Chain's new bike comes home!

Narrowed the field... to only one.

It's a brand new '02 Yamaha FZ-1. I've only got about 100 miles on the clock as of this post, but I have to tell ya, I honestly believe it's going to be a great bike for me.

Son-of-R1 powerplant, stellar brakes (easily the 954's equal IMO), 6 gallon tank for lots of range, Barcalounger riding position (VERY comfortable), solid and confidence inspiring handling characteristics, gorgeous 'Liquid Silver' paint (much depth to the metalflake - you'd have expected no other color I'm sure), and very high levels of fit/finish. Perhaps not quite as TAG Heuer as the Hondas I've owned, but it's within an arse hair of being put together as solidly as my two CBRs were.

Hope you guys and gals like it. And I hope I'm still welcome around here. Hey, OHOH remains even though he bought a Yamahammer (although he still has that 954 in mothballs, I must admit).

Edit: In case anyone wonders why I bought the leftover 2002, it's because I scored a pretty good deal on it - $7,295 OTD. Also, I prefer the silver frame and motor (as opposed to the '03 variant which has a black mill and black frame, but silver swingarm - strange looking to my eye, at least on this particular bike).

Re: Chain's new bike comes home!

One of the locals use to ride one at the track here until he got a GSXR-600 track bike. He was a lot faster than most riders at MAM.

Re: Chain's new bike comes home!

Congrats on the new ride! * *We'll let you stick around...heck, we even let Tigerblade have his RC51 forum! *

So when are you going to replace the blue calipers? *I figure they clash too much for you...*

There's gonna be some karma involved here. You can't just come around and plaster Yami pics all over the Org. Blasphemer.

Is that a steel frame?

Nice, but does it give you any wind protection, I remember that as one of your criteria.

Milos is the man, even faster on the GSXR. Chain, how much did the 954 go for?
