Cell number releasted to telemarketing?

My mom just received this e-mail and sent it to me...is this bullshit?

REMINDER..12 days from today, all cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sales calls.

......YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS

To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone:888-382-1222.

It is the National DO NOT CALL list.. It will only take a minute of your time..
It blocks your number for five (5) years.
You must call from the cell phone number you want to have blocked.
You cannot call from a different phone number.

HELP OTHERS BY PASSING THIS ON TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS.
It takes about 20 seconds

Yeah, it's bogus. It pops up every now and then. Seems to go in cycles. You can check snopes (I have) it's there.

you can register any phone number on the do not call list through the website
https://www.donotcall.gov/

if you can't convince them, confuse them.

Re: Cell number releasted to telemarketing?

The FCC has stated they will not legally allow telemarketers to call mobile phones.

If you get a call, you can file a complaint witht the FCC. I was receiving a lot of junk faxes on my fax machine, filed a dozen complaints and now I get none. The FCC does act as they can levy fines. It is free money to them.

Re: Cell number releasted to telemarketing?

Emails like that go around all the time, ones saying your download limit has been reached, msn accounts closing/have to pay and loads of other phoney ones.

Re: Cell number releasted to telemarketing?

Yeah once had an e mail from some bloke telling me that a forum on which I was a moderator would be removed from his companies server because we had not paid our account so we owed them x amount of money and as this was a late payment they would require an advance payment to keep our account in credit. He went on to give me the billing details etc and asked for my details as well to ensure further payments. Well not being a complete idiot I knew that our forum was on a signet free site so how could we owe money for it , so instead of sending him my bank details I emailed him a bill for the space his e mail had taken up on my hard drive . funny thing I never heard from him again lol

Contact your CC company to be aksed to be put on the do not call list they have. They do sell your information but if you ask for them not to, they won't.
