Re: what's best paint for weight bar

a weight bar like to lift weights i'm just trying to figure out what would be the best paint to paint it with like rattle can wise or would powder coating be worth the money, i figured it would come off just like the rest so if its gonna come off anyway i don't want to waste my money for powder coating if either way it will come off.

sorry for the confusion

Re: what's best paint for weight bar

Look up Steel-It Spray paint. It is a stainless-steel pigment that you spray on regular steel to keep it from rusting. I don't know if it will hold up to being slammed against steel like when you set the wieghts back down though. This stuff also works great on car headers, Bar-B-Ques or anything else you want to look stainless and not rust.

EDIT: I guess it is chip resistant!
Stainless Steel Paint touches up replacement parts., Stainless Steel Coatings, Inc.

Re: what's best paint for weight bar

Depending on the material, why not hard anodizing? Or if you can find someone, how about "tenifer" for the finish? It has been proven to be very durable.

Re: what's best paint for weight bar

Just searched wiki-pedia for Tenifer and found that is what Glock uses for the finish of thier guns. Thanks Ian never heard of tenifer before.

Re: what's best paint for weight bar

No problemo. The place that Glock uses in Austria does a better finish than the place in the US. For a weight bar, I doubt you would be able to tell the difference.

I doubt you will be able to wear the finish off.
