how to adjust cool down on furnace.

Hoping to avoid having to call a tech. When my furnace kicks on it runs fine then the burner turns off and goes into cool down to finish getting the heat out of the heat exchanger. When it does this it stays on way to long, it ends up blowing cold air which cools the room back down alittle.

Now i dont know off the top of my head what model i have (can get it if u need it to help) but how do you adjust how long the cool down time is? i guessing it probably just a pot you can adjust but does anyone have experience in doing this?

Re: how to adjust cool down on furnace.

Sounds like it is some sort of thermal switch that is sticking. Do you see any wires or sensors hooked up tho the heat exchanger?

Yes,
a manufacturer;
a model #;
a serial #;
Year built is also nice, but may not be necessary at this point.
At least that way, we can figure out if you have an electronic control unit, or manual.
