fix 929 or buy a new 1k

What is a boy to do?

I wonder what the real hp of my 929 with pc3 and 2 bros can is and what of the 172 hp honda is claiming on the new cbr is at the rear wheel.

I love my 929, and I will own it soon, I wish my bike had a few more ponies for easier wheelies, but that is about it.

If I threw 3 grand at suspension and a full system and maybe some steel brake lines on the 929, would I get better value. You gotta figure buying the new bike is going to cost on several levels, steering dampner, pipe, pc3, seat, frame sliders, a few grand to walk it out the door and Insurance.

Thoughts?

If you're gonna use it for stunting, keep the 929. Unless of course you have money to burn....in which case I'd be happy to burn it for you

Re: fix 929 or buy a new 1k

I seriously doubt the extra hp of the new RR is going to make wheelies any easier. Once you've got enough hp (which the 929 certainly does), rider skill is more important. I wouldn't trade it for the hp alone.

Is a paradigm worth 20 cents?

Re: fix 929 or buy a new 1k

I guess I should clarify, my 929 goes up at about 6200 on an emtpy tank, 8k on full in second, i can pull a gixxr 1k up at 4k in second.

So a little extra torque/hp @ 4k in second is what I am looking for.

Have you tried a gearing change?

Re: fix 929 or buy a new 1k

ok, HP doesn't mean **** in stunting. i ride for a professional stunt team and use a 929. the rest of my team mates use 600f2's and f3's. HP is actually HARDER to stunt with cause it makes the bike twitchier.

you don't need high hp to stunt, i do my best work on 600's but i got a great deal on my 929 and i love 929's with the fuel injection and the feel. i'm also building up a 94 900rr and i'm soon to be getting an f2 to play on. it's all about the rider, not the bike.

what exactly is wrong with the 929 you have? i'm curious about it cause i'm always looking for parts or another bike to fix up.

forgot to add, you start messing with upgrades, that's pointless cost and also you have to screw with it. my friend's 929 always has FI problems because he put a PC3 on it and full exhaust and a bunch of crap...while i'm just riding my stock bike that runs great and works fine, he's worried about that extra hp that gets him nowhere. oh ya, honda's new bike isn't goingto have anywhere near 170hp. it's only claiming 140 something and that's always at the crank.

check out our site if you like, i have some slow wheelie vids up, high chairs, gangstas...just about every stunt you can imagine.
