Time to really start working!
I work for a large company that has a few, major competitors in the market. For years we've enjoyed an advantage in an area that is covered by a product my team provides. Just last month our biggest competitor unveiled an answer to that and has gained an advantage. We can't afford to be in second-place for too long, so all eyes are on us to respond. I mean ALL eyes...all the way up to our CEO.
What we develop is written in C# and Java using .NET (the front-end, anyway). For you nerds out there, I've been programming primarily in C/Unix for the last 5 years. I've had good exposure to the Object-Oriented world through Java, EJBs, and Powerbuilder, but this will be my first major OOAD development. For you non-nerds and others with more social-skills, I basically have to learn a new skill. We have another 3 weeks of "training" (bug-fixes, book-learning, etc) and then we ramp it up in development.
All this means extra time and focused hours at work. As a result, I'm pretty much signing off of Fireblades.org. I don't have a computer at home (ironically, it's the last thing I want to see when I leave here) and I can't waste time any more like I used to be able to. I really want to give a thanks and best-wishes to the members of this board. I've been pissing away company time here for a year and a half and I've come to know and chat with a lot of neat people. I learned a lot about the 929, about riding and racing, and about many other things as well.
So, best of luck and God bless! A few of the members on the board have my cell phone number so I should be easy to contact should anyone need anything.
