Windows Media Player plays local but won't stream...

Question for you PC wizards...

For some reason I can no longer stream mpegs off the net. They start to load, then Media Player says it needs to shut down.
If I download them and play locally, they work just fine. Also, I can stream wmv's, avi's etc...

I have WinXP (Windows Media Player 9) with the latest updates.

Any help or hints appreciated....

Do you have DivX installed?

Did it work at some point with your current setup? Try an uninstall, then reinstall. Would also check out the MS KB.

Yeah, it all worked great for the last year or so....I blew it all away and re-installed, same deal. I looked in the MS KB, and the only troubleshooting path they show requires you to find the error code, but MPlayer doesn't give me one when it pukes....

Did you look in the Event Viewer for any error codes?

Yes, but when I entered them into the KB search, I found nothing....
