Thanks! My monthly oxygen bill is actually higher than my electric bill.

Seriously, man. I can appreciate how you (or anyone) could get sick of hearing "compare this to that" threads. But look in the mirror a second. Guys like you are as much the reason for my incessant posts as anything. There's a reason I hang around here, and it's not for the wealth of bike information. Allow me to explain:

When I sold my Erion 929 to buy a 954, I posted my impressions of the new bike. I was one of the 'early adopters'; I don't think many members here had the 954 yet. When I said I thought the 954 was an improvement over the 929, people questioned it, and I backed it up with my opinions on why it was better than the 929. Then, a couple months later, when I sold the 954 to buy an R1, people REALLY got on my case - mostly because they assumed it was a bad financial decision, and because (admittedly) it showed a little 'waffling'. (This is the same reason Chain is catching flack these days for his "flip-flopping".)

But SO WHAT?!?
I'm entitled to buy what I want, to have the opinions I do, and to defend my opinions in whatever way I choose (I try to do it intelligently). The fact is, I sold my used 954 for MORE than I paid for it new. As I recall, it cost me about $600 additional (incl. tax & tags) to buy the R1, and in the end, I got to try both bikes, essentially riding a new 954 for two months for $600. What's laughable is that people would pass such negative judgement and cite doubt of my fiscal wisdom as the reason. I suspect there may have been some jealousy; after all, the R1 was my fifth new bike since '99. (In fact, I made out pretty damn well with those five rides, between insurance and resale dollars.) Some people were so jealous or angry or incredulous that I sold a perfectly good and nearly new 954 for an R1 that they refused to accept any explanation for why. (Instead, it was "You sold your two-month-old 954 for an R1. You're an idiot!")

So the insults came, and instead of letting them slip, I took every opportunity to respond, defending myself and my opinions to those who weren't mature enough to resist. It's sad that there are people in the world that have to resort to name-calling, insults, etc. when they don't agree with someone's view - it reveals intolerance and weak character. I guess I take enjoyment in the challenge of defending my opinions - a good debate is fun. But it's almost unfair - it's such an easy proposition to defend an opinion, because everyone is entitled to theirs - and because around here, some guys are like little kids - they tend to favor mud-slinging and name-calling to logic and reason.

General advice: If you don't like my thoughts or my opinions, skip over my posts. Disagree with my opinions if you like...but if you're going to argue just because you don't like me, or you're going to resort to insults and name-calling, and you can't present a reasonable and intelligent counter-argument, then you only serve to make yourself look bad - and to instigate/encourage/annoy me.

Ignore feature or not, I tend to agree with alot of what TAZ is saying.

I do my share of jackassing around on the board, but when it comes to debating issues, specific philosophies, riding styles and techniques, chosen gear, mods or the our very motorcycles themselves, personal slights and frequent wise-ass commentary does sometimes become a drain. Ignore the posters who bother us? Easy to say, harder to do, especially for persons with assertive personalities.

Hey, I expect to get a little heckling for buying and selling upteen exhausts before settling on one, and I knew I'd get messed with when I traded off my 954 in favor of a competitor's machine. It's to be expected as a Yamaha guy who continues to hang around a Honda board. But I agree, if we gotta fight here on Fireblades, why not do it intellectually?

P.S. Honda sportbikes suck.

Sweet, that takes care of everything.

Chain, had you been around during Taz's prime, your opinion on the matter would differ greatly.

"Mouth-breather" - that's my insult. Back off.

At least my dad didn't walk me to school because we were in the same grade.

Every cop has his price. I can be bought with Miller Lite, Krispies, or a demo flog on that 1000RR once you bring it home.
