Re: Quake hits LA

That's not LA, it's well north. Near Cal Poly San Luis if you've heard of the school. We felt it here at work.

A friend's daughter lives there, she called and said lots'a stores closed, stuff knocked down...not too big of a deal though.

It's about 180-200 miles N of LA...I'm about 330 miles from it's epicenter and we felt it out here...lasted longer but was not felt as much as the small 3.7 that was centered here at the beginning of the month

Californians must like living "on the edge", or what will one day be the edge. Hope you guys/gals are all safe!

Re: Quake hits LA

Yeah, I am underground, and it was moving things pretty good here. Since I don't have any windows, the movement just basically made me ill. It was weird because I don't normally get motion sickness, but not having anything to reference off of must have done it. Everyone was kind of dizzy..

BTW, just for the record, when the big quake hits, everything EAST of the San Andreas fault is gonna go swimming. And all the desert dwellers in California will have beachfront property.

Re: Quake hits LA

Well, I am on the edge and I wouldn't give up the weather for a quake every once and a while. I just watched the news and they said a couple people died in a building collapse.

Re: Quake hits LA

I felt nothing here in Northridge (earthquake capital), but my wife felt the shaker at work. SOP for us. And yes, this is the price for a 12 month riding season. Boy did we tear it up this past Sunday (200 miles). We got skunked 2 Sundays in a row, so we needed a good long ride in the twisties.

Re: Quake hits LA

I didn't feel a thing. Not in the last local quake either. Maybe cuz I'm dizzy most of the time anyway. My wife works on the top floor of a 17 story relic of a building from the 20's in downtown Oakland she said they all felt motion sickness until they realized it was a quake and then it was over.

Another great site to visit.

Re: Quake hits LA

I'm wondering what it would feel like to be riding while there's a big shaker in progress. I don't think you would wreck unless you're riding fairly slow when the gyroscopic effect of the wheels isn't real strong. Just watch out for big cracks in the road.
