Re: Debit card security

Do you think there is any more inherit risk in e-shopping with your debit card than there is with a credit card? I would like to make a purchase with money I have right now as opposed to charging anything on the credit card I just bled myself to zero.

Anyone ever have any good or bad experiences?

Re: Debit card security

Probably depends on the bank. Credit Cards usually have fraud protection on them, not all debit cards do.

Best thing to do is use the credit card, then just pay it off when the charge comes through. Same results.

Re: Debit card security

My ATM card is one of those ATM/Check cards backed by Visa (their logo is on the card). I've never had a problem shopping online.

Re: Debit card security

Mine too Talon, I just wondered if someone accessed your debit card they could clean out your checking funds. From what I know about credit cards, they can only get you for the first $50 if you notify the bank in a set amount of time. Not sure if the same rules apply to debit cards though.

Re: Debit card security

My Visa Debit card has a $1k/day limit on it, so they couldn't clean me completely out at least.

Re: Debit card security

Hell, I don't know what I'm worried about then - I only have about 47 bucks in checking at any given time anyway.
