Re: Whats a good car audio speaker?

My dad sold his other house and wants to put a nice system in his car. He already has the amps but wants speakers. What brands do you guys think are the best. Best meaning clearest, durable etc. Thanks

Re: Whats a good car audio speaker?

Yes, I have the Polk audio DX-7's(top of the line series about 5 years ago) in my car. After I got around to hooking up amps to them I gave up on getting subs for my car, there was no need. Yea, could've used them but the 5x7's are doing a good enough job to keep me satisfied.

Re: Whats a good car audio speaker?

Boston Acoustics are great speakers and are usually a good price. value for money plus you guys should get them at a
better price than us down here!

Must remember don't hit poles!

Re: Whats a good car audio speaker?

I have done many...and I have used polk for door speakers and what not...those were sweet. I used Alpine, they were good...but if you want subs....I have had the best luck with JL audio! LOVE EM!

Team Honda - well sorta...

Re: Whats a good car audio speaker?

Most top of the line speakers from any reputable manufacturer will probably do the trick. Like home theaters, certain speakers sound better with certain amps. Honestly, I'd go to a car-audio store that sells the same amp you already have and see if you can't listen to different speakers running through it.

I had good luck with a Precision Power/JL Audio combination, but that was 10 years ago. As noted above, Polk Audio is pretty tough to beat.

I have to vote for MB Quarts also. *I have those in the front on my DelSol and Infinity Kappas in the back. *The Quarts walk all over the Kappas, it's a day and night difference. *Well worth the money for MB Quarts.

Re: Whats a good car audio speaker?

There are many good speakers out there, but it is all based upon what type of music is being listened to. *His best bet is to take 4 or 5 of his favorite CD's to a good stereo shop and listen to as many as possible. *I would definitely go with component sets as opposed to co-axial speakers for mids. *I have JL 12w6 subs (3) Diamond Audio 6' components in the doors and 4' component in the dash of my truck, with 2 PPI PCX amps built solely for SQ/ not SPL but it will still hit 147+ DB. *I think Boston Acoustics are the best all around, as MB Quart are a bit too harsh IMO on the top end. *Amplification is much more important in a crisp Sound Quality based audio system.

Re: Whats a good car audio speaker?

I'd go boston or MB quart myself...

More importantly, find a good place that sells them, a reputable shop that has done some good installs...

I have A/D/S all around and love the clarity and precision they offer. *They also dont require the high levels of amplification that other manufacturers do.

I had some A/D/S speakers bought from a local store once. They were awsome. No one here sells them anymore though.
