Any coin collectors?

I found a Buffalo Nickel in my basement (sealed) and tried to look up to see what "version" it was and couldn't find much. How do you tell? I know its not a 3-legged one (which I found out is worth some $$). But I would like to put it up on ebay.

TIA

Re: Any coin collectors?

I'm clueless but I did find this: Buffalo Nickel Values

I can't help think of the movie American Buffalo? Seen it?

Re: Any coin collectors?

So what is the date, condition, etc?? I collected coins many moons ago, but probably don't remember which buffalo(e)s are worth a lot. Seems like the 1940D rings a bell. Just go to a coin shop and check out one of the books that give you that info. Good luck!

EDIT: Whoops, scratch the above, I had Jefferson Nickels in mind - duhhhh...
And I had the date wrong to boot!

Re: Any coin collectors?

Any coin stamped "S" is a keeper for sure. If you can post a pic, that might help. I still have my collection of pennies, nickles, and quarters somewhere.

What is the year?
