Mumsy's Birthday Trackday

Here's the nicest prezzie I ever got my Mom who likes to drive FAST. Regular kinda Mom, likes sewing and gardening, watches coronation street....heh, heh. Gave it to her today, she goes in July when my sister's here from UK. Will get the film crew too

She's nervous and excited all at the same time.
Check it out, the perfect gift for a leadfoot.

Awesome!

Re: Mumsy's Birthday Trackday

Hi Bladeracer, did you see that track?? Was designed by a motorbike guy!

That's where I'll be going to have my first track days. Just dawned on me that if my Mom gets addicted, we could have Mother-Daughter days and I''ll go out with the bikes while she rests up for her next stint in the car...that would be cool.
I got the idea when I got her to tape the first MotoGP of the season and she told me that she wished she could go fast like that...wish granted!

Hope she enjoys it GS.

I was young and stupid then. I'm old and stupid now.
We get too soon old, and too late smart.
I started off with nothing and still have most of it left.

Re: Mumsy's Birthday Trackday

She had an absolute blast!
Was pretty nervous at first when we could hear the instructors giving the cars a quick run but couldn't see them. REALLY nice sounding cars.
Just a reminder..this is the car she drove:
  • ~3400 lbs.
  • 4.6 liters V8 (~350hp @ 5700 RPM, ~340 ft-lbs @ 4500 RPM)
  • Steeda racing wing and front splitter
  • Upgraded locking differentials and rear end gear ratios
  • Ford Racing performance clutch
  • Ford Racing handling kit (springs, struts and sway bars)
  • Short throw shifter
  • Ford Racing performance kit (cold air intake and ECU)
  • Stoptech 4 piston big brake kit
  • 18" lightweight racing rims shod in high performance rubber.
The instructor told her she "Was doing a buck sixty five" to which she replied, "The straight parts are too short otherwise I would have done 185..."
What a track and boy, what a brilliant twisty drive to the track!!!
Highway 511 ...
Anyway here's some pics and vid. The videos are from regular cameras, so not perfect . Pictures of the track etc later.

Now I'm wondering if I should learn to drive...

Re: Mumsy's Birthday Trackday

Forgot to mention that I met the guy in the first video that had the two-seater custom built. He was with us for a while watching my Mom. Very nice guy. He said that she would drive slower on the street after her track day.

He was wrong.

By the way, since she hadn't driven a stick since 1977, the instructor told her that she could just do the whole track in fourth.
I think she did for the most part except when they pulled into the pit for instructions.

Official apology to the people who had to replace the brakes...

She told the instructor that she only used the brakes when he did. He pointed out that he didn't use the brakes, he'd just tap them to give the drivers the signal as to when to downshift (or brake) for the corners.

Wonder if that was why it was so hot in the car.
