"No amount of government spin will hide the fact that violent crime is out of control," he said. "We now have record levels of gun crime, rocketing sex offences, a further 14% increase in violent crime and overall crime is nearly 750,000 higher than 1998."
Well no sh!t. Who would have guessed that taking away the most effective means of defending oneself would lead to an increase in crimes against them?
Gun-control isn't an issue - it's a movement. When people stop taking groups the the Brady Center seriously and start accepting the responsibility for self-defense then we might see a change. I won't be holding my breath though.
Edit: Sorry, didn't bother to add this:
She said: "We urgently need more trained armed police officers throughout England and Wales to tackle the growing menace of gun crime, otherwise lives will increasingly be put at risk."
Unless you want England to turn into a police-state, hiring more cops won't necessarily make the streets safer, since criminals do what they can not to commit their crimes in front of them. The majority of the work of the police will still be responding
to crimes rather than preventing them. So go ahead and vote for more gun-control and then feel safe knowing that if you're robbed or raped, you'll be able to call the police from your cell-phone (assuming of course that you're able to). What's the joke - call for a cop, ambulance, and pizza-guy and see who shows up first?
