Litescribe: Who has one?

anyone got a CD/DVD drive with lightscribe?

It writes design on the non-data side of your disc after burning (you flip it) and you no longer have to write on them by hand or use a sticker...

Anyone already got one? Seems like a really interesting way to label CD's, makes them look more professional too. I'm thinking of pouncing on a Firewire one for my laptop from Lacie.

Re: Litescribe: Who has one?

When I bought my new box in Nov it came with an HP DVD630 (DVD +/-RW, DL), which crapped out a couple weeks ago. The replacement they sent was an HP DVD640, and it has the lightscribe logo on the door. I haven't even checked out the lightscribe features yet, I'm guessing you have to buy special lightscribe media, and also have to get software to run it? I'd like to find out too, since it seems I already have a capable drive.

Yes, different media (3M, Imation, Veratim all make it) and specific software, which is available (I think) from the litescribe site...

Best Buy has the discs, I just saw some there. They are only marginally more expensive than no litescribe discs...

Looks like I'll be one of the first to give it a go...

Just got a Lightscribe DVD-R at work. I'll be testing as soon as I'm done loading software :)

Ok...maybe I'm missing something here, but I can't get the software that came with it to make the label for the CD :banghead: It keeps wanting to send it to my printer and when I look in the help file/documentation for the software, the options they describe aren't there.

How did you get yours to work, willi?

Got it finally. The drivers didn't come with the software.

This thing kicks serious butt!!! Sure beats trying to write stuff on the CD with a marker or messing with labels :thumb:
