Not sure if it'd compromise the strength of the frame sufficiently for you to worry about, but I'd rather avoid it and buy an Ohlins style damper that fits in front of the tank and doesn't need any holes drilling....
have hyperpro that has mounting kit that use holes that are already there. the hardware changes but you dont get to drill any new holes. But if you feel like you need to use power tools use center punch first.
I love my GPR. I wouldn't want any dampner installed on my bike that required me to drill holes. Why, when there are so many that don't.
