Thinking about a new race bike

OK my TZ 250 will be turning 13 years old. I was thinking about an upgrade to a newer TZ or RS 250 2000+ I love this bike. I was also thinking about another class of racing light weight twins on a sv 650cc, the blood sport class 600cc, or 1000cc twins.

What would you do?

A. 2000+ TZ 250 is around $10,000
B. 2007 SV 650 $5,500 + $1,500 to race prep
C. 2004 600 6 to $5,000 race ready
D. 2004 RC 51 ?

I could race all of these bikes in 3 different classes or more.

Don't drive a hearse in the carpool lane.

Re: Thinking about a new race bike

I have never raced, but if I had to pick a bike as a track/race bike I think it would be the SV650.. The abundance of parts alone are amazing, plus it's a twin, which I love

Re: Thinking about a new race bike

2000+ TZ 250 is around $10,000 - Have never rode one, but would like to someday.
2007 SV 650 $5,500 + $1,500 to race prep - Plenty of parts and upgrade potential
2004 600 6 to $5,000 race ready - Good choice of bike but the grids are kind of packed if you plan on racing.
2004 RC 51 ? - Too heavy for my liking. Plus I enjoy the I4 power

It's amazing how stupid some people can be.

Red, in your line of work I think you need something more conservative to race..

Re: Thinking about a new race bike

Go with the SV. Lots of fun. The newer generation motors are less receptive to tuning. The older motors will hold up better.
