Slick's XR650 Press Release

Just finalized everything on this. I actually haven't even seen it yet but it is sitting in my friends garage now about 8 hours away from me. He picked it up for me a few hours ago, unfortunately it will probably be almost a month before we get it transferred to my garage.

Quote:
Team Honda's 2003 Honda XR650R N2 bike. This bike was ridden by Johnny Campbell...if you know anything about XR650s he's arguably the best Honda Endurance Rider of all time.
I bought this bike from RPM in May and because it was Team Honda's and had never been sold to the public, it has a full 6 month warranty on the motor. This warranty is good through the end of July. I just got a offer from Honda Motor Corp to extend the warranty for 4 years for an add $400 (also a 1, 2, and 3 year option) that's a fully warrantied race ready bike!
About the bike:
This was their back up bike, N2. They used it to race (and win 1st place) at The Best of the Desert in Vegas. The bike has all of the best parts that money can buy: A full hand welded titanium pro circuit pipe (it's sounds awesome), titanium rear spring, Suspension done by Bobby Bell, titanium rear shock spring, brakes done by Braking: with a Wave front rotor, BRB triple clamp, mount for Scotts Steering stabilizer, huge alum radiators, custom computer drilled air cover, aftermarket ignition box to give it more spark/power enough to run the big desert lights, high compression piston, Honda jet kit (all done by team Honda) and I’m sure a few more things.
Should be an awesome starting point for a SuMo. Supposed to have monster power.

no electric start though?

I made a similar choice in June... street legal XR400...

it once took me over 50 tries to kick start it

SuMo? Suggest UlMo (Ultra-Motard) or UMo (Uber-Motard) . Sure looks like it could be a bit of fun when you're finished..

I hope it never takes me that long. It has the high compression piston so it will be a monster to start if not done right. My friend says it starts first kick every time for him and until he picked it up for me yesterday he'd never kickstarted a bike in his life.

Phone conversation with my friend while he was picking it up for me:

Him: You're planning to ride this thing on the street?
Me: Uh, yeah...that's the plan.
Him: You are going to get in SOOOO much trouble.
Me: Yep.

I like U-Mo. I might go with that.

That's a helluva starting point! You better hold on tight when you twist it!

Re: Slick's XR650 Press Release

So what exactly are the plans and total budget for the project? Looks like your off to the right kind of start anyway. Are you planning on any cross training in the dirt?

It just doesn't do it as a daily commuter and the F4i is too much like the 848 to want to have it and an F4i.

Did I miss a thread? You picked up an 848?

If you would have said something earlier (like last month) or you lived closer I'd take that f4i off your hands.

Wow, Slick. I never thought I'd see the day. The 848 must be something quite special...

Good luck luck with the U-Mo project

Re: Slick's XR650 Press Release

So how is the project coming along SW? Hows the XR to start? Big singles and no electric leg scare the crappers out of me.
