I Just got a 02 f4i that was wreck, the front is all messed up and missing, At first i couldn't get the fuel pump to kick on unless i put a ground on the fuel relay brown/black wire, but i also had it hot wired but didnt know what to do with the pink(security) so I ended up taking the igition off my 929 and plugged it into the f4i and the fuel pump kicks on like normal, it turns over and sounds right but there is no spark. I got power to the coils, not sure how much, but there is power going to the coils, does anybody hav any ideas?

:welcome:, cedar rapids is a great place.i worked there last year for quaker oats after you all had that flood.
about your problem, how are you measuring/seeing power at the coils?
the f4i does it have a codedv key system and did you just use your ignition of the 929
If the front is missing, that maybe your problem. There is a tip over sensor which is housed in the nose. If that's missing, it thinks the bike is laid down and won't fire. Just a thought. I took the nose off mine and forgot to plug the harness back up and tried to start it... no go

:welcome:......I agree. I have the same bike. If you don't have the Bank angle sensor (BAS) A.K.A. the tip over sensor, the bike wont start and there will not be any spark. Everything should work properly but the BAS helps send the signal to send the spark through the ignition coils and to the spark plugs. Find some one with the BAS and plug it in to give it a test. :thumb:
I disabled it, connected the 2 outside wires

Does anybody know if the F4i has a coded key system? Yeah i Just used the 1 off the 929. Alot of the parts are similar, the wires colors are the same and match up
