Well, as i was tasked with finding a manual for one of these for a friend that just bought and i find myself here!
(and quite jealous if he managed to find a half decent one! -although i have the feeling the engine is going in an old fireblade he started hacking at last week)
could someone stop him asking me for it! its proving a hard find...
my email is [email protected]
many thanks and i will happily send it on in turn if asked.

Hi everybody, I know this is an old thread but I really need the owners manual for the Honda Magna v45 750 1983. If anybody could be so kind as to send it to me at [email protected] i would be very thankful.

This thread is for a service manual, not an owner's manual.

I have a 1984 Magna V42. All was going great until one day I ran it up to 80MPH and backed off to 70 for a couple miles. It then started bogging down to the point it died when I stopped. It started back up with the help of the choke and had very little power as if it were running on two cylinders. Since then if I only go 50 MPH it will run just fine. If I go 60 MPH it will start bogging down in about 5 miles. The heat gauge is always normal. I put new plugs in it. I'm thinking it's coils, fuel filter, fuel pump, or carbs. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Better or worse if you use a higher or lower gear?
Do you have a vacuum-operated fuel tap?

Petcock, stock has vacuum petcocks and 30 years you get failures (leaks) in those easily, causing a fuel restriction. Check for vacuum leaks first, vacuum opens the valve, or tap.
I like Pingel valves, they're cheaper than OEM in this case. Flow from these are incredible.

Manuals here but you got to join. http://v4musclebike.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1563&highlight=manuals

http://v4musclebike.com/v65mike/Honda_V45-2.pdf This is for a V65.

Filter is a quick and easy test first, but don't ignore the petcock.

Any chance you ran it down to reserve and picked up garbage off the bottom of the tank? I think these have secondary tanks as well? I avoid 80s bikes for this reason. Everything rots out and makes it a pain to maintain, and parts are difficult to find. These old bikes were prone to cam failures from poor lubrication, popping out of second gear, whine from the rear differential too. Don't leave a Pingel open when you turn off the bike, your old float needles will probably leak and fill your left cylinders with gas (the side stand side.)

Disconnect the fuel line from the pump outlet, put a piece of line on it and run it into a bottle. Turn on your ignition and check the flow. If it's good, start working upstream like Br and Blunt said, with the petcock and obviously the fuel filter. Does it have an inline fuel filter installed? If I remember correctly my Intercepter did. If so replace it anyway if you don't know when it was done last.

Interceptor is just another V45 but aluminum frame, yep, inline filter under the seat. Funny how many of us have at one time rode one of these.
Yep, pretty much the same engine. That's why I was searching my memory on whether or not it had an inline filter. I had one in my younger days, but that was many years and several bikes ago...
