Hey guys... this is my first post - so be gentle?!

I have a '96 Fireblade ... and a question regarding the clutch.

As we all know when the bike is in neutral (not running), that the bike may be easily pushed pulled. To do the same thing when in gear (again - bike is not running), one only needs to pull in the clutch lever to move the bike.

I am sitting on the bike, in any gear (and the bike is not running)... and with the clutch lever pulled in, the bike is locked up. This is the first time I have experienced this issue. I can see the cable moving when I look down to my right at the clutch... but it's as though I haven't pulled the clutch in, considering the lock-up I'm getting.

Any thoughts here before I open her up to see if there's an issue... maybe what I should be looking for here?

Would appreciate any assistance.

Being a wet clutch it does have significant drag, especially when the oil is cold.
Sounds normal to me.

I'm pulling the bike out this afternoon for a quick ride. I'll let you know what I experience. I am not quite certain how long the bike has been sitting. I bought it last fall - rode it once off the trailer, and didn't notice anything peculiar regarding the clutch. I have several bikes but none of them "stick" when I pull the clutch lever in while the bike is in gear - so this "wet clutch" comment doesn't really make sense. Thanks for the assistance.... and I'll be back to you guys with my findings.

I've had some bikes that acted like yours and some that didn't. I agree with Bladeracer, it's probably fine.

By "sitting", we mean overnight or a few days. Enough for the oil to solidify in the clutch. Does it behave the same way after a ride?
