I was test riding my bike after I got all the "bugs" out of it. It has a new stator, new mosfet rectifier, new battery, oil, etc. I got about 100 yards down the road, stopped at the stop sign, took off in first and the bike took off fine. As soon as I hit second the bike just died and hasnt started since. I checked for spark, it has spark along with new iridium plugs. Yes, there is gas in the tank. The fuel pump primes every time. The kickstand killswitch works perfectly. I recently had a fuel pump go out in my S-10 and it had the same effect of my truck just shutting down immediately, but I knew it was the fuel pump because it would never prime upon ignition. My question is even though the fuel pump primes on the bike does that mean it's any good? My truck stumbled a bit when the fuel pump went out because I didnt have my foot to the floor. I was definately giving the bike full throttle so I can see how it would just cut off instantly. My bank angle sensor works fine along with the fuel cut relay. It really feels like a fuel pump at this point, but any advice, without condescension is greatly appreciated. Yes, I have read a ton of threads. This is a used, "new" bike to me. This bike would start up every time while i was doing all the other stuff i needed to do to it. I was making sure everything was kosher before investing in new tires. Finally got to that point, new tires on, 100 yards from the house and now I have a bike with new tires sitting under a tarp. Murphy's Law in full effect. Please don't reply with some cocky garbage, my patience is thin skinned right now. Thanks in advance.:thumb:

:cool: Dude, 30 hits and I'm it. Say you're throwing the dice of how many hundreds at it, and if it's not? And my common sense, not to be throwing the pie in the face, says I'm making sure one variable is out of the way before I throw a dime at it. Because I am still showing fuel pressure and spark is the way I'm reading it.

Since I'm new to the bike, all i can tell you is i have a red light next to the green nuetral indicator. Nothing flashing.

You clearly did not read my post. The bike was running. All the stuff I did to it were needed, I didn't just start buying parts and hoping for the best. I got the bike running before I threw tires on it, then it decided to go to hell. Thanks for the reply though, it was very helpful...Dude.

if the pump is priming you will have pressure. the pump either works or it has craped the bed there is not really a middle ground.
That's what I needed to know, thanks. Time to get the voltmeter out and start checking grounds, etc. The way my luck goes the ecu is probably done after all the **** I've had to do to this thing.

check the kill switch as well these are notorious for failin

Thanks for the advice, it's been hot as hell down here so i'm waiting for some cooler weather where I can look into the wiring and make sure all is well before I decide to dump this bike into a deep lake somewhere.:rant:

If it were the kill switch though, would it even prime the pump or attempt to start? The starter engages.
It's not the killswitch under these circumstances....these bikes are notorious for ECU issues.....that would be the first place to check.....as a side note you need to relax a little when people are taking their time to help you....just a suggestion...........;)

Relax? Not really sure where that's coming from? I was only commenting negatively on that first dumb reply that made no sense. I've thanked the people that had good tips for me. If you knew how much trouble this bike has been maybe you would understand how frustrating this deal has been. Thanks for all the tips to everyone that has given me some. I'm pretty easy to get along with:thumb:

You have spark, and the pump is priming. Need to check is there fuel going in throttle bodies.
Unbolt the tank, take air box off. Do not disconnect fuel line.
When you crank the angine, turn the throttle, you should see fuel spraying thru thrrotle bodies.
If it is not spraying, check the injectors connector.
If it is loose you would probably have MIL blinking.
If fuel pump primes, and injectors are not spraying, check IGNITION sensor, on the right hand side of the bike.
Its job is to tell the ECU when to trigger injectors.

Do not buy any parts in advance, especialy not the ECU.
Be patient, will figure this out.
Thank you sir, the injectors was my next step along with looking for any messed with wiring. I sort of miss my carbed bikes now, lol. I don't plan on throwing much more money at this thing. I had a "welder" tell me he could fix a spot on the case around the stator cover that the previous owner neglected to tell me about. This "welder" burnt a 1 inch hole in the case and told me he would fix it. I show up a month later and he had "fixed" it with JB weld. Long story short, I ended up buying some Belzona 1111, awesome stuff btw but not cheap, finally got that sorted out along with the other usual suspects with these bikes, only to be where I am now. I really do have some horrible luck, not just with this bike, but I refuse to give up which sometimes works out for the best, but we shall see. Sunday I will be check voltage/grounds. It's obviously a fuel issue, just need to rule out that the ecu took a dump, if that's the case I may just part this thing out. Thanks again for all the tips.

First simptom of burned ECU is fuel pump, not priming.
Since you have mosfet rectifier i dont think it is ECU.
Rectifier is reason of burned ECU in 90% cases.

I put a r1 mosfet on like I've read, since I was putting on a new stator which it needed. I'll check for fuel injection, I've been using a multimeter for years, it's just been damn hot down here everyday and I don't have a garage so its been tough putting much time into it, along with the frustration, lol. The only $ I've put into this thing was for things it needed, and I waited for tires until I was sure she was good, and then I get this. If I have to part it out, at least its a fairly rare bike as far as years produced and it's an Erion with good plastics so i'm sure I could get a little bit back on it, but of course i'd rather ride it. When she ran she was a beast. I'll let you and everyone else know what my findings are and maybe it will help someone else out that has similar issues. It's no fun having to walk a heavy bike a few hundred feet back to your house, or get stranded farther away than that. Thanks for the tips.
