Hello all! I’m new to the forum .
Recently my 929 skipped timing I’m looking for help with finding TDC correctly and adjusting my timing. And how to go about adjusting timing. I ride year round and my girl is down and I need it back up ASAP. Please any help would be appreciated .

im no expert. top dead center is when the line just to the right of the "T" on the ignition pulse generator rotor is aligned with the notch in the engine case cover. found under the inspection plate in the right crank case cover.

youll want top dead center on the #1 cylinder. i suppose a way to be sure its #1 and 4 and not 2 and 3 is remove the #1 spark plug n stick something straight n long down in and when it tops out going up, youll know #1 is at tdc.

then the cams need to be aligned with the index lines on the cam gears facing outward on both intake and exhaust and both level with the surface of the head. youll probably need the honda "special tool" to see the lines on the cam gears. ie, a mirror.

my best advice would be get on the internet and download a copy of the "cbr 929 service manual pdf" and give it a look.

So I tried everything you said and wind up taking to a mechanic who did exactly what you said except for he loosened the sprocket so he could take the chain off so he could adjust the lobes and then the sprocket to line up with the team Art if so I tried everything you said and want to take it to mechanic who did exactly what you said except for he loosen the sprocket so he could take the chain off so he could adjust the lobes and then the sprocket to line up with the T Mark if that makes sense.That was two days ago since then I had to adjust the manual CCT because he didn’t tighten it down enough but now I’m hearing a clicking a clanking noise and it sounds like it’s coming from the transmission area deafly doesn’t sound like the CCT and it does it first second third gear high or low rpm’s pretty sure I can’t hear the higher rp.m.s because of the RPMs.Most apparent for second year low rpm’s two grand almost sounds like a piece of metal is loose inside slapping around is a possible my timing chain is so Worn and stretched out ? I just don’t want to screw it up by ridding it.He says he did a valve clearance check he says the spark plugs were good which I look at them and there are good the bike has 29,000 miles on it I can eat on it every day about 160 miles runs good gas in it up premium change the oil regularly for synthetic 2050 so I’m not sure what to think now or maybe the mechanic screwed with something to make me come back for more work and I paid him really well to
