I recently bought a project bike on which I replace the engine. I'm selling the old engine (13,000 miles) as someone may be able to use it for parts or want to rebuild it. You can see the damage on the stator side. The guy I bought it from said it went down on the stator side and now when you turn the engine over, the stator wobbles. I have not opened it up so I don't know the condition of the internals. I've taken pretty good pictures of it.

I'd like to get $150 for it to buy other parts. It's pickup only. I could possibly meet you halfway within reason. I'm in Purcellville, VA (20132) Or if you want me to break something open and send you a part, I could do that if it's worth it to me.

I've sold stuff on the forums before too. I'm not a scammer. I have lots of ebay and paypal rep under my same name.

I'm also open to any trade offers...doesn't have to be motorcycle stuff.

I can't really see from those pictures, is the case cracked at all? I'm piecing together a track bike and have a complete motor but the case has the infamous casting flaw and is cracked.

Any idea how much shipping to 85042 would be?

Thanks! :thumb:

Where is the casting flaw? I'll check again tonight. I'd really rather not ship it. I guess if I had no other offers I would. Let me know what to look for/take a picture of and I'll get back to you.

mgolden... I live in Phoenix also, nice to see others from here.

I have a friend that owns a metal shop and he is a certified tig welder... he could probably weld the case for you. I'm not sure if the crack is on a machined surface or not?

If you need help taking the engine part and reassembling it ( if needed )i could probably lend you a hand.

Yeah i just read that thread and looked at the photos. If the engine case is just cracked thru to a cooling passage i know my friend can tig weld it up for a small fee. Not sure exactly what he would charge but i know it would be less than changing out the engine or case.

Thanks man! It's just a spare motor I have sitting in the garage - I already have a motor in both the street and race 954's, so I'm not super concerned about it. Everything I've read has said that if you weld the case it will warp it and the head gasket won't seal. Guess I could disassemble it, get it welded, then get the block decked and hope they don't have to take too much off the top so the pistons and valves don't meet.

I might try cleaning the gob of JB Weld off of it and see if I can braze it (low heat). Luckily it's just a coolant passage so it's not under super high stress or anything.
