I live in Greece and received the letter for faulty water pump clip on September.
I think that the problem is only related to a series of bikes and not all of them.
Also heard a lot of people complaning that the paint desolves after washing.
I have my bike since the end of May and paint condition is still perfect.

One question:

Is the painted black surface on Exhaust Can of your bike completely flat (no slight deformation)?

Thanks in advance.

i also received my recall notice for the 08 fireblade for the inner clutch... im in NJ, usa...

Lrge thorn in the side of the 08 Honda dealer should change it for you.
i realize the black paint fading on the exhaust is a known issue and i have that also... are you saying they SHOULD change that or they ARE officially recognizing that as a problem and fixing that?

ive read others in this forum are taking it upon themselves to paint it or have it painted...

Going to answer that as carefully as I can, from what Ive read on this site Honda have officially recognised the fault and are changing the exhausts.
I havnt got in contact with the dealer yet (as I live hundreds of miles from one and the its Winter here with snow forcast)
Ill let you know what my local dealer has to say but tbh its what Honda themselves say

The surface of the exhaust lower is definietly not perfectly flat even when brand new. It has "bump" like high spots. Crap description I know.

I contacted Honda about mine, and mine isn't really bad as I have only done 1500 miles. Immediately they said that they were aware of the problem and would replace it under warranty. I spoke to my dealer who said that they thought production had not changed, so the new exhaust would only end up looking the same. They advised me to wait a bit to see if Honda change production of it, and actually paint it with something that is heat resistant.

I'm not too worried as Honda admit there is a problem, and I have over a year of warranty to replace it should I choose to.;)

Also mailed Honda today regarding this matter, waiting for their reply.

Thanks

:idunno:
strange how its a perfectly round hole a??? i noticed mine as soon as i got it home from the dealership. ask any other 08 owner to look at the underside of the exhaust when they start it up first thing in the morning :)

or even put their hand under to feel the the gasses coming out

Yep, you can see condensation firing out of it when you fire the bike up too.

Yup, got my 2008 CBR1000rr clutch inner PUD in the mail a few days ago. I'm wondering if that'll help it not bang so hard into first from neutral, too. Only a few thousand miles on it so far, no oil consumption, though I'm not wringing it out at all. Tires are about toast.

just an update... the honda dealership said they are aware of the fading paint but as of right now, Honda America is not offering anything to resolve the problem. it is currently a non warranty issue, but my dealer said that "could" change down the road, but hes not so optimistic...

dont know if this thread should include the recall notice i received today. "cbr1000rr clutch inner pud" did anyone else receive it?
Yes, I did get this clutch recall. My bike is also going to be looked at my oil consumption issue. Look for my results on the oil thread.
