I've seen various instructions on how to code a new key, but can anyone confirm whether the 2012 'Blade uses the same technique and if it is different, what is it?

Isn't the procedure in the manual?

Not in the 2012 owner's manual and I can't find it in the 2008 WorkShop manual either, but it may be different in any case.

I don't have the WS manual for the 2012 bikes.

Aren't the two keys that came with it enough? ;)
Well, normally I'd say yes, but I like to ride abroad each summer and it makes sense to take a spare key - just in case. But that means I am carrying the ONLY 2 keys, so I'd rather have another kept unused at home. I really don't want to have to buy a new ECU because of some mishap with the keys while away on my trip.

As far as I'm aware its a job for a honda dealer only, not something you can do at home.

Up to '07 the procedure is detailed in the Haynes and OEM manuals.
It's not in the '08 OEM manual I have, but there is no mention of HISS at all so it may just be because it's a US manual.
I'd be surprised if the later models are any different but it is possible.
