Here goes: My 1984 Honda xl 350 (7500 miles) recently overheated on a ride in WV. My first thought was oil level, but that seemed OK. Oil, however, was very hot..the whole bike was hot...hot enough to burn a whole through a canister above the crankcase. When bike cooled, it would not restart. I recently took the bike to a shop for an oil/filter change and a new battery. Bike ran good initially, then seemed to knock a bit, before losing power...At that point, I shut her down and coasted into town. So...question is...do you have any insight into what the problem might be...By the way, I have taken the bike back to the shop, and so far...they have not had a chance to look at it...but thought it might be something to do with the charging system...maybe the stator....I like to ride, but not so much wrenching...so I am lost really....Thanks for any help...
