is a 520 chain conversion on a 1000 a bad idea for any reason? i need opinions on chains and sprockets. because im about to switch this stuff out. does anyone know where to find black anodized renthal street sprockets? im having a hard time looking for them on the internet.

Only downside I can see is the 520 stuff will probably wear out faster.

It's really only a good idea if you're looking to shave a few hundredths off of your ET. And if you're looking for hundredths, you're not looking for chains and kits because you're not having to buy them, your sponsors are furnishing them.

Otherwise it's just going to cost you more money both up front and down the road.

That may be the only advantage if you only go in straight lines.
If you actually use the suspension and enjoy throwing the bike from side to side (that is why you ride a sportsbike isn't it?) then reducing the unsprung weight has several other advantages.
