My dealership told me that I need to bring my bike in around 600 miles for its first service. They told me they would change the oil, check the fluids, adjust the valves, tighten bolts that loosen during the break in period, etc., but I've heard that all they do is an oil change and look over the bike and charge like $250. If that is the case, I'll just change the oil myself. The bike is runninig great. What should I do?

No way in hell will they, or should they, be checking the valves at 600 miles. I did my own 600 mile service by changing the oil and oil filter, checked the bolts and fluids, and adjusted the chain. Keep your receipts in case of any warranty issues later. If you decide to have the dealer perform the service, tell them you want to watch them do it...
