3875 Views 10 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  bladeracer
I WANT TO ADD SOME BITE TO MY BIKE. IT'S A 93 900RR. I NEED ROTORS, MASTER CYLINDER (I HEAR BREMBO HAS 1 THATS LIKE $300), PADS, AND CALIPERS. I WAS THINKING THAT I'D NEED STEEL BRAIDED BRAKE LINES TOO, NO? ANY ADVICE?

ALSO...I WENT TO GET MT MOTOR CHECKED OUT BY CHP. IT SEEMS THE NEW MOTOR SWAP IS EASY TO CHAMGE ON THE TITLE BY GIVING THEM A BILL OF SALE. ANYWAYS, THE COP WAS LIKE "OK, BRING A BILL OF SALE AND IT WILL BE FINE." THEN HE SAYS " BY THE WAY I REMOVED THE BRASS KNUCKLES YOU HAD ON YOUR BIKE.":nono:

WTF? DUDE THEY WERE BOLTED DOWN AS MY HEEL GAURD! :idunno: :crying:

THANKS IN ADVANCE

Caps lock is to the left...
Have you bled fresh fluid through the system already?
New pads?
Braided lines would be the first thing to do to improve brake power and feel.
yes new pads...yes new fluid...both like 2k miles ago. rotors are warpped i can feel it. can those be resurfaced?
any suggestions as to rotor or brake line type? thanks br.

Not if they're warped.
If they're bent you can straighten them.

Any good cast iron disc will work fine.
I make my own lines using clear-coated Goodridge line.
what parts do i need to make my own? is it just the line and you buy other little parts or can you reuse some parts off the current brake line? can you post a pic of your setup? thanks

update. i see pics online....both lines leave the master cylinder i see. ok.
If memory serves me right, when I installed Kevlar lines on my '95, it was two lines... Both came from the master cylinder and one went to each side. The kit included new Banjo bolts to accomodate the install of the new lines... No "T" was used nor included in the kit...:thumb:

You can buy various angled banjo fittings in stainless or annodised aluminium, threaded or crimped.
About all you can use of the existing parts are the banjo bolts.
Racebikes generally require two seperate lines from the master cylinder, otherwise it's up to you how you route the lines.
