hi guys and gals,
recently had the tank off my 99 919 and after noting the intake pipes are tucked down into frame well,i had the idea to cut a third of the pipes so the intake ports were level with the gap between tank and frame.I immediately noticed an improvement with throttle responce, great, however on the highway in strong wind she seems to be bogging down, could this be a result of too much air flow ???

there is no ram air so unlikely.

by pipes do you mean the intakes to the carbs? Note sure that its a good idea just to cut these at random - it would have potentially serious consequences for the running of your motor as these are supposed to be a tuned length and although shorter ones are available from tuners these are still a tuned length for specific tuning mod.

id say go to the factory pro web site and check and see what they say about cutting your stock stacks down vs buying a set that are purpose built and designed
