Hello every one, im new on the forum. I own a 99´cbr900 (919), yesterday i ride my bike normally, put it on the garage and i went to sleep. Today i try to start the engine as usual but the only thing i get are noisy explotions from the exaust. The battery is brand new, there are not blown fuses, no alarm or gps track system installed... I check all the spark plugs and they are ok as well are the cables, i empty the fuel tank and change the fuel, check de petcock and the fuel reaches carburetors and cilynder normally but the engine doesn´t run...

Any sugestions are welcome...!

excuse my english...!

Thanks.

thanks for your reply, the 4 sparkplugs have good spark... (i dont know if im explain my self right) i check the cables that cames from the ignition coils and the are good too, if the cdi unit where bad i think thath i will not have spark. (it happens once)
A friend of mine toldme something about a sensor on the crankshaft that might be moved from the original position or broken. if this sensor is moved, then the engine will not run. Check the pic...

the part your mate thinks is called the "pick up", i would not have thought that it would have moved, as it held in place by 2 bolts, with locktite from the factory, but it could be faulty, if the cdi unit packs up it can still produce a good spark at the plug, but the timing of the sparks would be out, may be none of the above, if you have a friend with the same blade you could take out your cdi unit and try another, just to rule it out, same with regulator/rectifier., you could test the resistance of the coils, pick up, leads etc Good luck...

thanks again! Its a very good idea try with other cdi, but unfortunately, my blade its the only one in 500km around where i live.

Ok, i removed the cover and the "pickup" is ok. So i put all back again.
I bring a guy to my house to check the bike and he say: hey man, you have yellow-orange sparks here and all around the plug but the electrode. You need to change all off them. This is why the bike wont start.-

something i didnt say because i tough thas where ok is: when i check the sparkplugs the sparks where orange-yellow. Other thing i didnt say is that the spark goes around everywhere but the electrode of the plug. This is why im computer technician and not a bike mechanic jajajaj.

I order the plugs, so i will keep in touch with the results... i hope this is the solution.

Thanks Corsaro, and all of you!

Fernando.-

The ignition pulse generator could be the culprit. My '05 600RR with 12 miles on the clock would not start due that faulty part. It was diagnosed at the dealer.

Hi guys, long time lurker, first time poster
I have a simular problem, take 98 blade for ride, all good, even stop a couple times then ride again and switch it off for a half hour, but then when I go to start it, it will start on one cylinder, and thats it.
It did this a month back, I got the shop to pick it up, gave it a full service and changed the plugs. Now its done it again tonight. Occational big backfire that makes grandmothers stumble clutching there chest. Why Goddamit, WHY?
